Small talk over coffee
A dialouge I had with my collegues after lunch over coffee.
Kevin: Life sucks (Big Sigh)
Cat: Why?
Kevin: Cause you slog so hard, day in day out just for money. It's a whole cycle. Shi* sigh
Cat: Why you say that? (sounding sympathatic)
Annie: For me, life is to be happy. (Annies goes on to recount about how her 30 year old bro in law died so suddendly in a car accident)
Kevin: What's the purpose of living? Life is so tough, and at the end we just die? (Melacholic mood now)
I decided to chip in at this moment ...
Susan: Everyone has a dfferent purpose in life. Your purpose is different from mine. We all have to find out that purpose for yourselves.
Kevin: I don't know what's my purpose in life
Cat: Just live life happily, don't worry lah
Annie: Yah lor, why worry so much. Life for the day, do what you enjoy. You only have so much to live. Never will know when God calls you home.

Do you know what's your purpose in life? Do you sometimes feel that you're just drifting through life with no clear direction and little meaning? Don't you desire for something bigger than yourself? Don't you want life to be more purposeful?
For me, I know that my life on earth is temporal. I know that God has a plan and purpose for my life. I am at a stage where I am just seeing glimpse of the plans He has in store for me. So far, it has been good...
I want to live my life not just for myself. I want to live my life for God and for others around me as well. I feel contented when others around me are happy too.
But of course, there may be days when the storms in life comes and they threatened to pull down the pillars in our lives. You may view these storms as challenges to be overcomed or threats to tear you apart. I believe that many times in life, it's about how we choose to see things. To see the cup as half empty or half full. To see your lack or to apprecaite whatever you have. I do admit that when I look at others, sometimes envy fills my heart and it bites. "Why can't I have better parents, why can't I have a higher pay, why can't I this, why can't I that..."
But my question is why don't you choose to just be satisfied with what you have? Maybe the reason why you don't have all that you want now, is because God knows better than you. And perhaps now, you are not capable to handle it all. Why not more money? But will you be a good steward of money? Will you continue to tithe faithfully? Why not have a boyfriend, but have you learnt to place God first in your life? Why not a better job, but are you prepared to take on the added responsibilites and perhaps more stress too?
I like how the Bible puts it so simply. Taken from the book of 1 Timothy6:6 "But Godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be contented with that. People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all eveil. Some people eager for money have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. But you, man of God, flee from all this and pursue righteousness, Godliness, faith, love, endurance and gentleness.
