Lao Yu Sheng
I always had this idea that corporate lunches are like so boring *yawn* You gotta whip out your plastic smile and prevent embrassing yourself. Well after today's lunch, I probably will jump at every opportunity to go network and *ahem* yes enjoy the good food. Lunch was at Lei garden at Chijmes today, an invitation from a 3rd party Fund House. The perks that you enjoy when you are the client.
This is my first time eating there and I must say the food is really good, although I'm not one with the tastebuds for Chinese cuisine. We had the customary Lao Yu Sheng, where the waitress mumbled to herself as she prepared this dish.
Fact Number 1, did you know that Yu Sheng originated from Singapore? Yes yes, you heard me. Its true. Now that's going to impress your friends. Alright, maybe not..
Fact Number 2, did you know what everything that is in the Yu Sheng actually has a significant meaning. Auspicious sounding phrases are used to name each dish, like salmon represents "nain nian you yu", the honey represents, "tian tian mi mi". Okay, this does not qualify for mind blowing information either.
I'm so looking forward to the Chinese New Year, esp the family reunion and feasting and of course HOLIDAYS! Working is really too much hard work. I deserve a break and a well deseved break I shall get. This break will be much apprecaited. So maybe I should hide at home and relax while the rest of the world party away in Chinatown. Then again how can I afford to forgo all the visting trips to collect red packets?
Here's wishing all of you a Very Happy New Year! Gong Xi Gong Xi :)
