Japan in January

Off to Japan this Friday with Alexis. Yet another winter holiday. This time it will be colder than Melbourne, prob about avg of 8-10 degrees. This will be a much needed and much deserved break from the madness at work! I'm SO glad to be away. Just us...

Bags all almost all packed. I cant wait to be on a plane again. I always look forward to a break and hopefully life after this break will be back to normal. Been spending way too much time at the office lately that it's even affecting my life. Yes, things will be different, looking up.

Will soon be CNY when we get back and we'll need to give red packets this year! Ha, should have left two weeks later then we'll skip that part of the CNY celebration. Bt than again, it will be a good time to catch up with family and friends. Better keep away from all the goodies. Tempt me not.

Have you ever tried them?

It's been a long time since I last saw a doughnut shop in Spore. The last time I sunk my teeth into one when I bought Dunkin Donuts in KL. They were my tea break companion while I was traveling on the coach back to Spore. Last Saturday I saw a snaking queue at the basement of Raffles City, where there were easily 20 pple in the queue for dounuts.

The reason for such madness? The Donut Factory. Having quite a sweet tooth, I was tempted to join the queue. But I was hungry for dinner and was skeptic of how good they can be. They cost $10 for a box of 12 glazed donuts, $11 for a box of 12 in assorted flavors. Not cheap okay. Plus I'm sure they loaded in calories, fats and all things unhealthy too. Things which I certainly do not need now, thank u.

Oh but I must recommend you my all time favorite snack now.

Tao Kai Noi seaweed. Despite what you read as an incorrect translation of this brand of seaweed (small boss in chinese, and big boss neo in hokkien) They taste oh so good, I could finish a packet all by myself! Actually a pack is not too much eh.There are a few flavours, wasabi, tom yum, normal and I heard got tempura one too.

But my favourite is still the wasabi one. So hot, you can tear.. but so shiok too. I actually refrain from eating too much, coz they're oily seaweed. So I'm not sure how "healthy" this supposed healthy snack can be.

The first time I tried it was when I was in bangkok. It's much cheaper there, In Spore, it cost $2.95 from Watsons.I have since found out some places that sell them cheaper. Oh and to really get a kick out of it, you gotta try to real oily version. Somehow they are just more satisfying :) Go try, go try.

Back to work, back to the same pace of life. Not forgetting to take time out with Alexis, we headed down to Scruffy Murphy on a fri night for dinner. Been a long long time since we went to east coast, partly due to our busy lives and also cause it has been raining so much at the end of the year.

Chilled out over dinner and drinks. The fishermen's pie was oh so yummy. The bowl was covered with puff and inside it was a cream based soup with salmon, mussels and squid.

We ought to do this more often :) I miss going on such dates.

Welcome to a brand new year!

2 days of holiday, what a fantastic way to start the new year :) First time at Carepoint for overnight prayer. It's officially CP @ CP. Carepoint is my new church facility for the next 3 year before we shift to our new premise. And it's so near my place, just a 5 mins drive away. Prob 20 mins on foot. Someone say hallelujah.

I woke up on Jan 1 watching the Ghost Whisperer. Taped the last 2 episodes but never got down to watching them coz 2006 was just a busy year.
It's the episode that Andrea died when the plane crashed into her when she tried to drive out to look for her brother.
It's odd but lessons I learnt from the show,
1. Learn to live for today even while working towards the future
2. Learn to forgive and say sorry
3. Learn that you can make a difference
4. Learn that your family is still a family despite differences
5. Learn that love never dies

I suppose there are lessons to be learnt everyday. It's just a matter if we recognize them.

On a lighter note, I took a real good break over the new year period. Like going to Courts for instance.

If you haven't been there, then you're not Singaporean lah. You do know that it's besides Ikea and Giant is opening soon too, you know? Well at least now you know.
